Urban Decay Ammo Palette Review!

Guess what I got in the mail todayyyyy!?
Ok, maybe not today, I think it was last week, but with Ipsy Sneak Peeks (See Full post HERE) last week, I had zero chance to get this post up….but Anyways, Just an FYI: Whenever I see FLASH SALE or HOT DEAL I usually run at lightning speed to see what those deals are and if it’s amazing, you know dang well Mama be picking it up. So when Nouveaucheap (my all-time favorite bblog to check on the reg) posted a few weeks ago that Urban Decay had just added the Glinda palette and the Ammo palette to their sale page for ridiculously cheap deal, I sprinted (electronically) to their site. Unfo, the Glinda palettes were gone (they were ONLY $20), but I did manage to steal the Ammo palette for $10! That’s right TEN DOLLAHS! That’s like a friggin’ dream in Urban Decay talk. Clearly, it was minez.
am1As I’ve been waiting for this glorious babe to arrive, I have been stalking other bblog reviews of this palette and I am so excited I got my hands on this. If you haven’t seen this palette before or don’t know about it, here’s the DL: This palette was released originally a few years ago and then reformulated and re-released in 2013 (I think). It includes 10 of the best-selling UD shadows: (Smog, Mildew, Oil Slick, Last Call, Chopper, Maui Wowie, Shattered, Polyester Bride, Grifter, and Sin) and is one of the most Iconic Urban Decay Palettes ever released. It retails for $34 and I got it for 10 bucks! If you were wondering, I’m on top of a mountain shaking it like a Polaroid picture for scoring this deal.

shakeitlikeapolaroidpicshaaaAnyone else do a happy dance when they get a great deal?!

All of the colors are buttery and extremely pigmented. There are no matte shades, they are all metallic, shimmery and/or glittery. I was pleasantly surprised as I always am with Urban Decay. AND it was only 10 bucks. Win. Ok I’ll shut up and show you my pics/swatches now:

The Dupe Down Low!

Image

Ok, let just be realistic for a second here. Every make up enthusiast LOVES a dupe, right? There is no better feeling then finding a cheaper alternative with the same result in products. I am all about saving a few extra dollars and in some cases I down right refuse to pay for a product that is extremely overpriced just because of it having a designer name on the packaging. Give me a break. No tube of lipstick should be over $50. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I have indulged in my fair share of Urban Decay Naked Palettes, but I have washed away my guilt with a gift card or coupon on the more plush items that I have bought. It just boggles my mind in some cases, but in the instance that I am lusting over a more high priced item, but don’t want to shell out the cash for it, I am always in search for the closest dupe I can find at a reasonable price. Here’s a few things that I have found.. Some ridiculous, some fantastic! Enjoy!

Sigma Glove ($36) vs Silicone Baking Glove ($5-$15) – $36 for a freaking silicone glove to clean your brushes?!? I almost have no words for this. Although I have a passionate love for my Sigma brushes, this is just down right wonky. It’s a silicone glove with ridges to help get into the core and deep clean, rinse and revive all your brushes like they’re brand new… Well, guess what? Go to Walmart and/or Amazon and buy yourself a silicone baking glove for no more than $15 (mine was $5) and I will bet you there is the same result. There is no way Sigma’s glove does any better and I don’t need directions and specialsquiggly lines to tell me the difference. No thanks, Sigma. I will save my $36 for something else.

Mac (or any overpriced brand’s) Brush Shampoo ($15-$25) vs Baby/Kids Shampoo ($3-$4) – I don’t know why anyone buys into a brands brush shampoo for whichever ridiculous price they’re trying to charge. If it’s over $5, you’re overpaying. PERIOD. I have used Johnson’s Baby Shampoo as well, but I am currently favoring my L’Oreal Kids Shampoo for washing my brushes. It gets all the grime out (when used with my Walmart silicone baking glove) just as good as your $25 Mac shampoo, I promise. Stop wasting your money girls. THERE’S NO DIFFERENCE. And sometimes I even add a little bit of olive oil to the shampoo to give my brushes extra softness, but it’s not completely necessary if you don’t want to do it. Plus, my brushes smell like peaches even after they’re dry, which I love, but you can pick any scent.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer ($28) vs NYC Sunny Bronzer ($2.99) – If you haven’t heard of the NYC Sunny Bronzer yet, get your hands on it. It’s perfect for contouring (no shimmer, perfect tone, great pigmentation, great to bring some color to face) and $2.99! I have heard great things about Hoola, and basically everything from Benefit for that matter, but I just can’t reason with spending almost $30 on a bronzer. I don’t even contour that often so there is no way I’m paying that much. I don’t care if it was made with diamonds…..Ok, MAYBE if it was made with diamonds, but it’s not so I am still not convinced. Pick up Sunny. It’s a great product for a steal of a price.

Anastasia Brow Wiz ($21) vs Maybelline Define A Brow ($6) – Can we clarify something? WHAT IS THIS LADY’S NAME? Ana-stahh-sia or Anastasia? Everyone is saying it differently so I don’t know what to think. One thing I do know is that I keep hearing how her brow products are phenomenal. Though I’ve been tempted to buy them, I cannot wrap my head around buying a $21 brow pencil. It’s a PENCIL people! Maybelline’s define a brow is cheap and does a wonderful job at helping me fill in my sparse and wild brows. I have dark brows and did originally buy the Maybelline pencil in dark brown which I wasn’t really 100% happy with, but I recently picked up the medium brown and it’s SO much more natural-looking. The formula is the perfect blend of not-too-creamy, but also super easy to work with. I top it off with some brow gel and I am SET for the whole day. These babies don’t budge. Maybelline’s is the perfect brow pencil and I will tell you one thing, this girl ain’t spending $21 of her hard earned money on a single brow pencil. Keep it moving Anas— whatever your name is!

Mac Candy Yum Yum ($16) vs Milani Rose Hip ($5)- Now this is a gorrrrgeous bright fuchsia color that I am so excited about! I just picked this up recently for 20% off at Kmart (because the whole store is closing near me!) and could not resist. And guess what? Awesome dupe for Mac’s Candy Yum Yum! I love its vibrancy and its going to be great for spring. Would much rather spend $5 than $16 for the SAME color.

I hope you loved my very 1st edition of Lush4Blush’s The Dupe Down-Low! If you have ANY dupe suggestions, please leave them in the comments below or if you have tried any of these products as well, let me know!

February Favies!

feb fav

1.)    Batiste dry shampoo in dark/deep brown– Obviously this is a beauty favorite for so many people, but I cannot rave about it enough. It is the perfect consistency that doesn’t leave a white cast (because of the “hint of color” which I LOVE), gives me a boost of volume and keeps my second day hair looking fresh. (ps-You can pick this up at Ulta, Sally’s or any local beauty supply. I’ve even seen them in Walgreen’s and CVS lately!)

2.)    Almay Clear Complexion Foundation– Um, how come I never hear anyone talk about this foundation? If you have acne prone/oily/combination skin and you like medium to full coverage to cover up problem areas, you’ll love this. I use it every time I have a breakout and it really helps to conceal and heal every blemish. The coverage is ahhhh-mazing and it has 2% salicylic acid! Love it!

3.)    Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon by City Color Cosmetics– I received this in my February Ipsy bag and can I just tell you I LOVE it. It’s a beautiful coral/orange/pink that I have been using on the daily. The pigmentation is amazing and it blends like a dream. Perfect for a natural look and would be even better in the summer. And get this, they’re only $2.99! YES PLEASE!

4.)    Marc Jacobs Daisy– I know! Everyone is obsessed with Daisy, but come on! It’s just the perfect everyday scent. I actually found the cutest gift set of Daisy and Daisy eau so fresh at TJ Max last week for $40. The bottles are white and pink flowers that I am in love with and I also keep a rollerball of daisy in my purse in case I forget to put it on. I just cannot get enough of it.

5.)    Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm stain in Terra Crave and Honey Love-I fell in love with these looking for some balm stains in Walgreens. They’re so moisturizing and they leave a nice stain on your lips even after a few hours when they’ve worn away. Honey love is a perfect pinky nude color and terra crave is a more browny nude. Both are great for everyday wear to school or work. I always have either one in my purse when I feel like adding a pop of color to my lips.

6.)    Gelish Mini Gel manicure set– I got this from my boyfriend this Christmas (which he got from Sally’s) and I didn’t expect to love it, but can I just say I absolutely could not live without this. I am obsessed with painting my nails now with zero dry time. I just go through the steps of foundation, color, and top coat polish with the UV light and then swipe with the nail sealing remover and OMG, they’re dry! I know it can seem like an investment for $70-$80 for the entire kit, but if you think about how much time and money you’ll be saving from going to the salon or doing it yourself, its 100% worth it. I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

What are your favorites for February? Do we have any in common? And please always recommend new things I should try! I always LOVE discovering new favorites!

Catch ya next time!

Chelsea xoxo
